ALSTERPARK
The banks of the Aster are a green setting bordered by superb 19th century villas.
The Alster, the inland lake created by damming the Alster River since the Middle Ages, gives Hamburg a little Genevan air. Divided in two by the Lombardsbrücke and Kennedybrücke bridges, it is called Binnenalster (inner) in the old city, and Außenalster (outer) outside. Around the Außenalster, the bourgeois of the 19th century built beautiful villas. These are beautiful shores with century-old trees, where many come to practice daily sports: cycling, jogging, but also sailing and rowing.
