A nice alternative district in the heart of the Neustadt.
The "passages district" looks like a Berlin squat with its graffiti, murals and artworks scattered around the inner courtyards. In 2009, a collective of 200 artists succeeded in saving these small historic workers' houses from destruction by occupying them. In these abandoned places, they found space to create and exchange, but also to organize parties, concerts and shows. Today, the city is negotiating the future of the neighborhood with this collective, which has created an association. A good example of citizen action.
