BIG FREIHEIT
The Große Freiheit is a street where bars and clubs are lined up on both sides and where the signs compete in colors.
The signs, neon lights, shop windows and colorful posters make it hard to resist. This street is home to the neighborhood's main music clubs, which have become legendary since the Beatles walked through them in the 1960s (in the Indra Musikclub and the Star Club). For the record, the street was named "Great Freedom" after freedom of worship was granted to non-Lutherans in 1610. Since then, the street has made good use of its name and enjoys full freedom in every sense of the word.
