DIE PALMAILLE
A pretty street in Altona, lined with neoclassical villas from the 19th century.
This famous street was laid out in 1638 and is one of the oldest streets in Altona. It is now lined with numerous neoclassical villas from the 19th century, which form an elegant and imposing ensemble above the Elbe. It is considered one of the most striking examples of neoclassical urban development in Northern Europe. The Altonaer Balkon, behind the Palmaille and Klopstock-Straße, is a lovely green area overlooking the Elbe and offers a beautiful view of the Hamburg harbor.
