KLOSTER LÜNE (MONASTERY)
A monastery with neo-Gothic lines dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.
The Lüne Monastery, 2 km from the city center, is the most beautiful religious complex in Lüneburg. This former Benedictine monastery (now a Lutheran foundation) includes late Gothic buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries. Its cloister is beautiful and its church has a magnificent altar from the school of Lucas Cranach. The monastery produced tapestries and weavings in the Middle Ages, which are preserved in the Museum of Textile Art opened in 1995 in the monastery. The small café of the monastery is very pleasant. A nice excursion.
