ST. NICOLAI (SAINT-NICOLAS CHURCH)
The medieval St. Nicholas Church in Lüneburg also has neo-Gothic elements.
The second largest church in Lüneburg, it dates from the 15th century and was remodeled in the 19th century in the fashionable neo-Gothic style. Its interior is very slender and has remained virtually unchanged since the Middle Ages with its star-shaped nave. The 15th century basilica served as a religious center for sailors, hence the "sailor's crown" at the tip of its spire. You can climb to the top of the tower to get a magnificent view of the old city.
