BUDDENBROOKHAUS - CENTRE THOMAS & HEINRICH MANN
The famous Mann family home that inspired the Buddenbrooks story.
Lübeck is the home of the Mann family (owner of this house from 1841 to 1914), and it was in this house that the famous writer Thomas Mann grew up and set the beginning of the action of the novel The Buddenbrooks (Nobel Prize for Literature, 1929). His brother Heinrich is also one of the great German writers of the 20th century. The house was purchased by the city, which turned it into a house-museum where testimonies, photographs, archives of the family of letters are collected.
