This castle was built by Duke Adolf of Holstein-Gottorf between 1577 and 1582 in the style of the Dutch Renaissance. In addition to a cultural centre where temporary exhibitions are organised, the castle also houses the Poppenspäler Museum, a puppet theatre museum.
