OSTFRIESISCHES LANDESMUSEUM - ORIENTAL FRIESLAND MUSEUM
Located in the former town hall of the city, this museum presents a history of daily life in the region, interesting models of the port and fishing boats. The former weapons room houses a beautiful collection of armour and edged weapons from the 16th and 18th centuries. There are also paintings from the Dutch school. Indeed, in the 16th century, Dutch members of the Protestant community fled their country and persecution. The Netherlands was then dominated by the Spanish Catholic authorities. This is how many works by Dutch immigrant artists are admired. You can visit the tower, an old watchtower, to have a beautiful view of the surroundings.
