German military cemetery in a Peace Garden planted with maple trees offering a visit and a meditative walk in La Cambe

21,222 German servicemen, most of them between 18 and 20 years of age, lie here for eternity. The tombs are distinguished by simple plaques and under the central mound (at the top of which one can climb to embrace the extent of the graves) lie more than 200 unknown soldiers. An information centre in memory of all the victims of the war in Normandy completes the visit. And because the place leaves you moved, a Garden of Peace planted with maple trees offers a meditative stroll.

Lieu parfois oublié de certains amateurs de souvenirs. Certains allemands sont aussi morts en 39-45 sans forcément approuver les idées de leurs dirigeants... Lieu émouvant et excellente exposition sur l'histoire franco-allemande
