ALTSTADT (OLD TOWN)
Old town with a few rebuilt streets and buildings such as the Beginen Tower, Leibniz House and Museum.
The first buildings in the city of Hanover were erected as early as the 10th century: the Am Hohen Ufer quay in the Mitte district. Its name is the origin of the city's name. Around the Hohe Ufer, some of Hanover's old streets and buildings were rebuilt after the Second World War, including the Beginen Tower, built in 1357, and Leibniz's house (Holzmarkt 5). This district is also home to the Historical Museum (Burgstrasse).
