ALTSTADTMARKT
The Altstadtmarkt, built in the 12th century as the main square of the old town, looks great with its Gothic town hall and Renaissance-style half-timbered bourgeois houses. If you enter the beautiful residence housing the Altstadtrathaus, the town hall, you can visit a small historical museum preserving some beautiful pieces dating back to the Middle Ages, and a model of the contemporary city of Henry the Lion. Charming retired residents will offer you a free visit. They will tell you the story of Henry the Lion and his then capital, Braunschweig.
