BARBARA THERMAL BATHS
Remains of the ancient Roman baths built in Trier in the second half of the century.
The remains of the Roman baths at Barbara stand near the banks of the Moselle. Much older than the Imperial Baths, they were built in the second half of the 2nd century. In fact, they are the second oldest thermal baths after those in Rome. The name of the baths is linked to the parish church of Sainte-Barbe, which stood alongside other religious buildings on the Roman site. Today, fragments of columns and part of the walls of the thermal baths still remain, giving us an idea of the grandeur of the building.
