OLD OPERA HOUSE IN FRANKFURT

Demolition or reconstruction: years during, the destiny of the "most beautiful ruin Germany" was debate. Les Francfortois provided indeed an example of sens cic and showed how it is recommended to treat historical heritage: thanks to the protests citizens and generous harvests of collection, the building representation that dating from the "Gründerzeit" (the founders) and which had been destroyed in 1944 by the bombings, was rebuilt in accordance with the original. The old opera (Alte Oper) could be solemnly opened on August 28th, 1981.

Since then, nearly 300 concerts and events every year attract many visitors in the rooms. The season starts with the festival "Auftakt" modern music. Throughout the year follow one another, evening after evening, representations of whole and soloists national and international in the spacious dining room (2450 seats), famous for its excellent acoustics and mahogany. The room Mozart (720 seats) is another scene. The programme includes symphonic concerts and chamber music, evenings songs, ancient and modern music. The public can choose from series of subscription, between early baroque and music avant-garde, "cheerful Muse" in "Ensemble Modern". Concerts for families, musicals, jazz, rock and pop complete the offer of first class.

The old opera is also known and popular with the companies and institutions as a building congress. Nearly 40, jubilees company, banquets, presentations and sparkling gala evenings such as the ball opera, are held every year in its representative rooms and lounges.
