SAINT-LAMBERT BASILICA
Gothic brick church built in 1394 with a leaning tower featuring numerous works of art from recent centuries.
The leaning tower of Pisa is certainly the most famous of its kind, but there is also a leaning tower in Düsseldorf! More precisely, it is the deformed tip of the bell tower of the oldest church in Düsseldorf, built in 1394 in the Lower Rhine Gothic style. After a serious fire in 1815, the bell tower had to be rebuilt. Shortly thereafter the wood began to work, warp and twist, which created the current shape of the roof. In the church there are many works of art from the last seven centuries and there are also the bones of St. Apollinaris, who is the patron saint of Düsseldorf.
