Town Hall, completely destroyed then rebuilt after 1945, with a flamboyant Gothic tower built in 1414.
The Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall) is one of those old neo-Gothic monuments almost entirely destroyed by bombing, but rebuilt after 1945. The tower is a fine example of flamboyant Gothic. Built in 1414, its similarity to the Brussels Town Hall suggests that the builders were Flemish. The Hansasaal also dates from this period. The 16th century saw the birth of the Löwenhof (Lion's Court) and the Renaissance-style east facade.
