Opened in 1986, this metal and concrete structure houses a museum of the utmost importance. The Ludwig Museum is a veritable temple to contemporary art. It would be tedious to list all the artists represented, but the names of Pablo Picasso, Otto Dix and Gerhard Richter alone are good examples. We should not forget the rooms devoted to Expressionism and the Die Brücke movement. The first floor is dedicated to Pop Art. Finally, a large section is reserved for artists of the last two decades.
