FALKENLUST CASTLE
Chateau built between 1729 and 1733. Visit to discover falcon hunting through tiles and wall frescoes.
Clemens Augustus had this hunting residence (much smaller than the previous castle) built between 1729 and 1733. He chose this location because the region was rich in herons and falcons. As in Augustusburg, the architect François de Cuvilliés was in charge of construction. And, as in Augustusburg, rococo is expressed here in all its splendor! Visit the gilded and stuccoed cabinets - Mozart is said to have loved them in 1763 - and learn all about falcon hunting from the frescoes on the walls.
