ALTES RATHAUS
Former town hall dating from the century, built with a pink and blue facade in accordance with the wishes of the Elector.
The Old Town Hall is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city center. Dating from the 18th century, it was built in response to the wish of Elector Clement-Augustus. Its pastel pink and blue facade adds a cheerful touch to the market square. Since 1949, all French presidents have made their first public appearance on the handsome black wrought-iron staircase of the old town hall, and a number of distinguished guests have made speeches (General de Gaulle, Gorbachev, etc.).
