POPPELSDORF CASTLE
Castle now part of the university, housing an arcaded courtyard, a botanical garden and a small mineralogical museum.
Poppelsdorf Castle remains one of Bonn's most charming landmarks. In the 18th century, it was the residence of Elector Clement Augustus. It is now part of the university. In summer, classical music concerts are held in the arcaded courtyard. A small mineralogical museum is also open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. A beautiful botanical garden is open every day except Saturday. In winter, if you're lucky, you can see the world's largest flower (3 m), the Titanenwurz, which blooms every 3 years.
