ADENAUER MEMORIAL
Monument erected in 1981 to honor a political figure who was the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic.
Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic, was a prominent political personality. As the creator of the FRG and the choice of Bonn as a capital, it was also the embodiment of the Rhineland in the face of a more continental Germany. It is therefore natural that Bonn decided to raise a monument in its honour. The sculpture, dating back to 1981, was carried out by Hubert Pilgrin. In the back, in his hair, the cathedral of Cologne (of which he was mayor), and the Tower of Tower (symbolizing the rediscovered Franco-German friendship).
