KUNSTMUSEUM BONN
Museum housed in a two-storey building, one floor devoted to expressionists and the other to contemporary artists.
His inauguration in June 1992 was the museum event of the year. On a huge esplanade, now invaded by the curious and the amateurs, two state-of-the-art buildings are home to a very large showroom and the famous museum whose construction has made so much noise. The building is the work of architect Axel Schultes. The interior, completely white, recalls the capsule of a spaceship. Round stairs lead to the exhibition halls. A first level is devoted to expressionist: There are very beautiful paintings of August Macke. See also the sculptures and paintings of Max Ernst. The second floor is dedicated to contemporary artists: Richter, Baselitz and, above all, Joseph Beuys. But the visit is not yet complete! On the roof of the large hall, covered by grass, the sculptures of Niki de Saint Phalle are a second outdoor museum.
