ROMAN RUINS
Roman ruins hidden by residential houses, featuring a fine fortification wall 8 m high and 55 m long.
These Roman ruins allow one to imagine what Boppard must have been like in Roman times. Until a few years ago, these ruins were hidden by the houses. The city bought them back one by one, in order to offer these remains of fortifications to the sight of all... Built in the 4th century, they were named Bodrobica from which the city of Boppard takes its current name. You will be able to admire a beautiful 8 m high and 55 m long fortification wall. This is where the stronghold and one of the most important Roman communities of the Empire on the banks of the Rhine were located.
