WIESBADEN THERMAL BATHS
Built in 1905-1907 by a Munich architect, with superb pools and a blue-mosaic terrace.
Kurhaus means "house of cure". Today it is a venue for galas, events and seminars. The magnificent building with its Corinthian portico was built in 1905-1907 in the Kurpark according to the plans of the Munich architect F. von Thiersch. The two wings of the building look out over beautiful pools surrounded by lawns. At the back, the thermal gardens can be admired from the blue mosaic terrace or from a boat gliding on the pond. The interior of the Kurhaus is an ode to antiquity, and the magnificence of the building is surprising. The entrance hall is topped by a dome decorated with sculpted muses. Mosaics show Venus, Apollo, Neptune and Diana. Among the many gaming and conference rooms, the most admirable is undoubtedly the Friedrich von Thierschsaal, inaugurated by William II himself. With your passport and a minimum age of 18 years, and for a small fee, you can take a brief look at the beautiful, wood-paneled casino hall.
