ALTPÖRTEL - OLD DOOR
The town's old gateway, built between 1230 and 1250, is worth a visit to discover the beautiful view over the town and surrounding area.
Built between 1230 and 1250, the Old Town Gate is one of Speyer's most popular tourist attractions. It once marked the western entrance to the city, forming part of the ensemble of walls and towers surrounding the city. At 55 meters high, it is one of Germany's tallest gates. 300 years after its construction, late Gothic elements were added, such as the upper gallery, which can easily be seen from the street.
