STAATSGALERIE
Extensive museography housed in a classical building, with a collection of paintings including religious works.
The Alte Staatsgalerie, which has been housed in a classical-style building since 1843, was extended in 1984 to include the Neue Staatsgalerie. Inside (the two parts are connected), the collections, mainly of paintings, cover a very broad spectrum: from medieval religious works to Andy Warhol, Rembrandt, the German Romantics and Impressionists, Picasso and Max Beckmann, there are few great names in painting who don't have at least one work here. All in all, one of the most surprising success stories in German museography.
