It is probably the most poignant place in Tübingen. The Verdure tower, which is yellow, soft and slender, is reflected in the river Neckar. Imprisoned here, facing the river, Friedrich Hölderlin, considered insane, spent most of his life, until his death in 1843, making the hundred steps in a room without angles and composing the most beautiful of his poems. The poet Zimmer took her in his home. Hölderlin is now considered one of the greatest German-language poets and the tower has become a museum.
