HOHENBADEN CASTLE
Ruins of an old castle built in 1102, offering impressive views over the landscape and Rhine valley.
Located north of Baden-Baden on the way to Ebersteinburg, Hohenbaden Castle is an impressive vestige of the town's history. Nicknamed simply "the old castle", it was built in 1102 and became the residence of the Margraves of Baden, until it burned down four centuries later, unfortunately destroying almost all of it. From the castle ruins, you can admire the landscape and enjoy an impressive view of the Rhine valley. On a clear day, you can even see the blue line of the Vosges mountains.
