The town of Durlach existed well before that in Karlsruhe: the old inhabitants of this area (now part of Karlsruhe in 1938) thus cultivate an identity above all Durlachoise! The margrave castle also burned several times, and was completely rebuilt according to the original plans. The walk is pleasant on the streets of this district, much more quiet and provincial than the Kaiserstrasse and its surroundings!
You can also climb to the Turmberg, this hill overlooking the neighbourhood and the city. It takes about minutes on foot, otherwise an old funicular can take you there (at the end of the Bergbahnstrasse). Two restaurants at the top, and a stunning view of the region.
