The historic French department store is one of Freiburg's key buildings. It is located south of the famous Münsterplatz (where the Münstermarkt is held). The building is impressive, with its striking red façade, 4 arcades and Gothic-style towers immediately catching the eye. Sculptures of Emperors Maximilian I, Charles V, Ferdinand I and King Philip the Fair can also be seen. Today, its main function is to host various events and exhibitions.
