Museum created to discover the works of Peter Huchel and Erhart Kästner, emblematic authors of the city of Faust.
A literary aside in the history of Staufen im Breisgau: Peter Huchel is an East German poet. Harassed by the Stasi, he moved to Staufen in the 1970s. It was here that he spent the rest of his life. The poet died on April 30, 1981. In Staufen, he published one of his last collections in 1972, Gezählte Tage, , for which he received numerous awards. A writer, Erhart Kästner was also a library director and founder of the Book Museum. When he reached retirement age, he decided to move to Staufen, where he lived out his remaining years. Two authors, emblematic figures of the town of Faust, to be discovered through their literature at the heart of the museum dedicated to them.
