This party marks the beginning of the gay liberation movement. The Saturday parade puts the whole town in a euphoric frenzy.

Gay Pride in Berlin is called "CSD", for Christopher Street Day, in commemoration of the 1969 riots on the famous New York street. The parade starts at the Ku'damm, crosses the historic gay district of Schöneberg and ends in ecstasy in the Tiergarten and then in the city's clubs. This militant and flamboyant festival is the second largest in Germany, after Cologne, and even holds the third place in Europe in terms of participants.
