TIERPARK
A zoological park where visitors can discover invisible barriers and protection between the 8,500 animals present.
This zoo is less rich and diversified than the Zoologischer Garten, but its concept is highly original: 8,500 animals, lions, elephants and many others share the garden (designed by the same architect as the zoo: P.-J. Lenné) with the distinctive feature that there are no barriers or protections between us and the animals. In fact, the plots are demarcated by water-filled pits that you notice once you're beside them, and which give the impression that the animals are roaming freely.
