The oldest of the German zoos is a charming place for a walk where architecture, fauna and flora are in perfect harmony.

Located in the western Tiergarten, this zoo is the oldest in Germany and one of the richest in the world: 1,400 animal species live here. It's one of the city's most visited attractions. In 2006, Knut, the first polar bear cub to be born in captivity for 30 years, made the zoo popular. Since his untimely death in 2011, the spotlight has been stolen by the pandas, notably Bao-Bao, a gift from China. But Bao-Bao passed away in 2012 at the age of 34. Since 2017, panda couple Meng Meng and Jiao Qing have taken up the torch, along with Meng Meng's two baby pandas, Pit and Paule, born in 2019. Past the Elephant Gate or the Lion Gate, you'll see okapis, pygmy hippos, zebras, warthogs, antelopes, gorillas, chimpanzees, giraffes and more. The garden also boasts a huge Bird House. While you're there, head for the adjoining aquarium, which offers a broad panorama of marine fauna through a selection of exotic fish, sharks and long-toothed crocodiles. The insectarium on the third floor is home to praying mantises, and the vivarium to venomous snakes... The jellyfish tanks are utterly fascinating, and then there are the lemon sharks! The latter are not so easy to spot on a dive in the heart of the Pacific, so let's make the most of it... It's also a great visit for families.

Beaucoup d'animaux. Belle mise en scène.
A faire.
A beautiful park in the city centre, lots of animals to be seen. Several hours are necessary in order to tour. Children are happy
