FRIEDRICHSWERDERSCHE KIRCHE
Former Berlin church exhibiting German sculptures by Schinkel and his contemporaries.
This (old) church is one of the German neo-Gothic masterpieces. It was designed by the Prussian architect Karl F. Schinkel. Its interior, consisting of a single central nave, is reminiscent of certain chapels in England. It exhibits 19th century German sculptures by Schinkel and his contemporaries, giving a fairly accurate picture of German Classicism and Romanticism. Masters such as Joachim G. Schadow, Christian D. Rauch and August Kiss are exhibited here.
