MEMORIAL TO PERSECUTED HOMOSEXUALS
A small concrete memorial to the 50,000 homosexuals persecuted and deported during the Nazi era.
Inaugurated in 2008 in the south-east of the Tiegarten Park by the Ministry of Culture and the Mayor of Berlin, this small memorial pays tribute to the 50,000 homosexuals persecuted and deported to concentration camps during the Nazi period. The monument consists of a 5-metre high concrete cube whose shape is reminiscent of the Holocaust memorial. On one side, a small skylight allows the video of a kiss between two men or two women to be seen inside.
