KAMMERGERICHT - APPEAL CHAMBER
People's Court building, where the trial of those involved in the failed attempt on Hitler's life took place.
To the west of the small Kleistpark, the Kammergericht (seat of the Berlin Higher Regional Court) is an imposing neo-baroque building which was also the seat of the Allied Council until 1990. Under the Third Reich, the Nazis set up a people's court, the Volksgerichtshof, there. The Volksgerichtshof is known to have hosted the trial of those involved in the failed attack on Hitler in 1944, also known as Operation Walkyrie, in which Claus von Stauffenberg took part.
