REGENBOGENSTELE - RAINBOW STELE
A 4.5 m high monument in the form of a pencil with its point raised to the sky, illustrating homosexuality in the century.
Inaugurated in 2000 as part of the Gay and Lesbian Festival, this 4.5-metre-high monument, which resembles a pencil with the tip pointing skywards, illustrates two key images of homosexuality in the 20th century. The upper part symbolizes the pink triangle imposed on homosexuals by the Nazis, while the lower part evokes the rainbow flag adopted by the LGBTQIA+ community worldwide. A commemorative plaque has also been installed at Nollendorfplatz subway station.
