WASSERTURM
Dating from 1877, this water tower features a pleasant park with a beautiful elevated esplanade and play areas.
The Wasserturm (water tower) in Prenzlauer Berg dates from 1877, making it the oldest in the town. It is situated in the centre of a small, pleasant park, bordered by beautiful Gründerzeit buildings. There is a beautiful high esplanade and, as everywhere in Berlin, children's playgrounds. Not far from here, at no. 53 Rykestraße is one of the few synagogues to have survived the destruction of Kristallnacht (the name was found by the Nazis themselves for propaganda purposes) on November 9, 1938.
