MUSEUM FÜR NATURKUNDE - MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
Berlin's Natural History Museum exhibits a unique collection of dinosaurs through skeletons and fossils.
This entertaining and educational museum will delight young and old alike. Housed in a beautiful 1889 building, the Berlin Museum of Natural History boasts a unique collection of dinosaurs, unearthed during excavations in Tanzania at the beginning of the 20th century. The skeleton of a brachiosaurus is on display in the central hall, more than 15 metres high, alongside its Jurassic colleagues (including an allosaurus and a stegosaurus). His little name? Oskar! The other star of the museum is Tristan Otto - the Tyrannosaurus Rex - who is due to return to Berlin after a few years at the Natural History Museum in Copenhagen. He will be the subject of a new exhibition. 3D video animations allow these skeletons to regain their muscles, flesh and skin to put them back in their environment. TheArchaeopteryxfossil is another highlight of the museum: it is the oldest fossilized bird found to date. Beyond these absolutely spectacular and unmissable dinosaur carcasses, visitors will also be able to take a trip through time and space in the part that explains the genesis of the solar system and the evolution of species in the west wing of the museum. In the east wing, the rooms are reserved for skeletons and stuffed animals of all species. A must for curious families and children. Zoology, mineralogy, paleontology, geology, there's something for everyone!
