DEUTSCHES TECHNIKMUSEUM
50,000 m² museum dedicated to the finest human inventions: navigation, aviation, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, computers...
Easily recognized from afar with its airplane on the roof (one of the planes that refueled Berlin during the 1948-1949 blockade), the "German Museum of Technology" offers its visitors an area of over 50,000 m² dedicated to fine human inventions. All the fields in which Homo Sapiens has achieved prowess are on display: navigation, aviation, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, computers, photography, railroads and more. Discover entire airplanes, steam engines and old-fashioned locomotives. Follow the evolution from modernized kitchen utensils to computers, clock radios, diesel engines and more. Each part of the permanent exhibition offers fun activities, and many historic models are brought back to life, to the delight of visitors. Curious visitors can try their hand at printing, take their first steps on a TV set or imagine themselves behind the wheel of an airplane. With over 4,000 exhibits, this is a gigantic, labyrinthine museum with a monstrous collection, and it would take hours to do it justice. Not to be missed either, just a few steps from the main building, in Möckernstraße at no. 26: the Science Center Spectrum which, thanks to over 150 experiments on the phenomena of acoustics, optics and radioactivity, aims to answer your most existential questions, such as: why is the sky blue? In the museum, audioguide in French.
