VOLKSPARK FRIEDRICHSHAIN
Charming park in Berlin, home to several memorials such as the small Japanese pavilion in memory of the Hiroshima victims.
This charming park is popular with local residents who come here to toboggan in winter or to organise aperitifs and barbecues in summer. Take a trip to the Märchenbrunnen (Fairy Tale Fountain): adorned with statues of the Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood and the Frog King, it dates from 1913. The park houses several memorials, including a small Japanese pavilion with a bronze bell (Weltfriedensglocke) commemorating the victims of Hiroshima. A Trümmerberg (debris mountain) conceals an old anti-aircraft defence bunker.
