SCHLOSS UND PARK RHEINSBERG
A castle with rooms, a memorial and a rococo garden covered with ruins, obelisks, grottoes and fountains.
Superbly situated on Lake Rheinsberg, the castle of the young Frederick II was partly the work of the great architect Georg von Knobelsdorff, the author of Sanssouci. A royal second residence in 1740, it is one of the finest examples of Frederick's rococo style. The rococo garden is littered with ruins, obelisks, caves and fountains. Some parts of the castle are open all year round, as well as the memorial to the satirist writer Tucholsky, persecuted by the Nazis.
