The Menara Mall, with its 90 stores, children's playground and 17 restaurants, is one of those huge shopping malls that are springing up in the heart of African capitals. One of its ambitions is to modernize the souk experience. Also, some of the aisles have been laid out like alleys in the medina. The real show is outside, at nightfall when Marrakchis, in a certain effervescence, take possession of any green space nearby, to picnic or eat an ice cream.
