CENTRE MALAÏKA
Since 2012, Malaïka has been working for children with trisomy 21 and from disadvantaged backgrounds. First carried by the Lions Club of Marrakech, the project now takes the form of an independent association, accompanying both children and parents to the difficulties they encounter. The association thus allows 110 children and adolescents to be welcomed and educated, without the family having to pay a penny. «Premises within a town school of the city have been made available by the Academy,» said Darya Mazdaoui, President of Malaïka. Classes are formed according to the degree of disability and learning capacity. They also benefit from psychomotricians, kiné, psychologists, speech therapists and can engage in therapy art through music, plastic arts, gardening or dance. But this assumption has a cost, so the partnerships that the association enshrines are vital, for example to train educators or remunerate stakeholders. Next site for the center: professional integration. As most beneficiaries reach the age of 16, the question of a future trade arises. Their inclusion, real and autonomous, to society is the main objective of Malaïka.
