See for the atmosphere. The dates and henna market is held in the first place. Animated throughout the night in a period of Ramadan (at that time the Marrakchis consume the most dates, which accompanies the harira, soup of lentils traditionally served in the shops during the fast period), this market is one of the most unusual in the city. Here you will find peasants who come from afar to âne or cart to sell their dates. All varieties are found around a mint tea generously served by foreigners. This is where most of the conservators in the city and the shops in the souk come from. The dates are excellent (especially those of Zagora, in our opinion, firm and very sweet) but only sold in large quantities: At least 15 kg! In the case of the dates market, the grain market is the market. The peasants in the vicinity of Marrakech come to the auction to sell their wheat and various kinds of meal in a constant hubbub. Finally, the fruit and vegetable market takes place on the open square next to the other two markets, close to the large car park you will see from the road. These markets do not practise retail sales.
