SOUK HADDADINE
This is the domain of iron and blacksmiths. Located in the open air, this souk is very narrow and its soil is covered with dirt. Many of the stalls, made of solid adjustable cement, are covered with a corrugated sheet as a roof. It is here that, in an unlikely tintamarre, the gates of palaces, public lanterns or road signs are manufactured. Each twists iron, the polishes; the more affluent have a soldering iron, the others simply hammer the metal until it takes the necessary form. Many small craftsmen make to the chain of mobiles composed of iron-white pots, planes with more or less cahotiques shapes and, the most famous tourist symbol of the world, the Eiffel Tower made of wrought iron!
Little frequented by tourists, this souk gives the impression of a place at the end of the world. With his tank of rusty iron pieces, it is the kingdom of the children who hunt by shaking a iron bar as a sword and mimicking the battles of the era of the sultans. This huge scrap metal depot is full of treasures: This is where we dump everything that can no longer serve (car doors, gutters, tanks…) until the expert hands of iron turn these debris into new marvels. You get out of there a little stunned but with the impression of visiting a place that looks like no other.
