Marrakech has no shortage of foundouks (or caravanserais, as they are known in the Middle East), designed to accommodate caravans of merchants travelling from town to town There are almost 100 of them, 45 of which are used for commercial purposes. For some years now, a program supported by the King has been aimed at rehabilitating the architecture of these ancient buildings so that they can become direct marketing outlets. On either side of the Rue Souk Ahl Fes, you'll find a number of them, some specializing in skins, others in wrought iron.
