JAPANESE CELLAR
Hidden in a hilltop cave on Gili Trawangan, these historic tunnels were used by locals as a weapons storehouse.
It apparently dates back to the Second World War. At that time, the Japanese used the Gili Islands - and in particular Gili Trawangan - both as a lookout post and a prison camp. By the way, the name of the island comes from Terowongan which means tunnel. These tunnels were built by the Japanese. The Japanese cellar was then a warehouse for weapons according to the inhabitants. Hidden at the top of the hill, you just have to take a left once at the top. You should soon come across some signposts.
