GILI ECO TRUST

The organization aims to initiate and promote sustainable ecological practices. It focuses its efforts on marine conservation, waste management, environmental education and raising awareness among local residents.
One of GET's flagship projects is coral reef restoration. The organization has implemented coral rehabilitation programs, using Biorock structures to accelerate coral growth. These structures attract diverse marine life.
GET is committed to recycling and waste reduction on the islands, encouraging local businesses and tourists to adopt environmentally friendly practices, thereby reducing their ecological footprint.
Education and awareness-raising are also at the heart of their activities. They organize workshops, training and awareness programs for local residents, schools and visitors, highlighting the importance of preserving the marine and terrestrial environment.
Gili Eco Trust works with local communities, businesses and authorities to create a sustainable tourism model that benefits both the environment and the local economy. They support a number of projects, such as a clinic for cats (which are over-represented in the Gili), a stable for retired horses and Pak Suparman's "Treevolution" project, which aims to replant trees on the islands to offset deforestation caused by the emergence of tourism and the growing number of hotels.
